How to Make Salted Caramel Apple Crumble
Done | Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a medium-sized cake pan. Peel, core, then slice the apples into about 6 pieces each. Soften the apples slices by steaming just until you can stab them with a fork. |
Done | In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, 1 cup of butter and begin mixing with your hands until combined. Add the sugar and use a fork to stir in. Set aside. |
Done | For the caramel sauce, use a medium sauce-pan and add 1 cup of butter and slowly melt on medium-heat. Next add the brown sugar and cream while stirring. |
Done | Place a layer of apples in the bottom of the greased pan. Use a dash of cinnamon and sea salt to sprinkle over the apples. Pour a thin layer of caramel sauce over the top. Repeat this step until all the apples are gone. Leave a bit of the caramel sauce for later. Begin to sprinkle the crumble mixture over the pan along with a pinch of salt, cinnamon, and a layer of caramel sauce. Continue this until the crumble mixture is gone. Make sure to keep the last layer of crumble thicker so that the sauce does not show. |
Done | Bake the dish for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy. Let stand for about 5 minutes and serve with your choice of whipped or ice cream! |
